I would like it to all be either white or back to the natural wood. Any suggestions?

You should try a paint stripper first before you sand…a lot of times the stripper will just take the paint off well enough till you won’t hardly have to sand…..if you don’t want to do this just take a good primer and paint on your cabinets before painting it the color you want………
If I was going to do it..I would use the stripper and strip the old paint off first and if the wood is in good condition I would just refinish them and go with the wood look…if they are roughed up to the point sanding won’t get the blemishes out I would paint them….

Interesting color combination, ha? Let’s see, you do have a couple of options. If the doors are in good condition you could use a product like the “gripper” from Home Depot to prime them. If the cabinets look a bit rough you may want to just remove the door and sand them down. It is a pain, but so worth it. I’ve done it both ways and it really just comes down to the condition of the cabinets. If the paint is already starting to peel, you know the answer. Save yourself a huge headache and number the door with the cabinet so you won’t spend hours trying to match the door with the correct cabinet when it’s time to put them back. I think either wood or white would look great. It’s really just personal preference. Good luck!

first thing id do is see if there worth stripping strip the back of one door and see if its stainable wood if not prime and paint otherwise do what left field said…good luck

Black hu?Well yes you can paint over them ,i suggest a good interior oil based primer after sanding the exisisting black paint,2 coats of primer would be best.As far as going back to natural wood ,that would require stripping off all paint and varnish previously applied .A very big job and who knows what kind of wood youd have when u get all materials off.Remember a semi-gloss paint is what youd want to finish with,it shows every defect under it .so take time to prep,sand before appling primer and finish.
